Joining A Clan
After some time playing the game you would have come across many clan players in the public servers and may have your own opinions on the relevant skill levels. When looking for a clan, you should try to aim for one around your current skill level, and preferably one in the process of recruiting or trailing. Information about clans can be found through their relevant listings on the site, their own clan sites, forums on NSPlayer and AusNS, or from their IRC channel. When asking to join a channel, you should pm a member (or leader if you know who), in IRC this is done by double clicking on someone’s name, it will bring up a private chat window between you and the person (this is not a channel, however it is used in virtually the same way).
From there you will either be accepted or rejected, they may have to get back
to you later if they wish consult the rest of their clan. There are many reasons
for being rejected, either the clan is above your skill level, or they are suficiently
full. It is helpful here to look for recruiting and trialing clans that are looking
specifically for new people. If accepted you will generally go through a trial
period, you are usually invited to the clans private channel and will use a modified
version of their tag whenever playing. A private clan channel will more often
then not have a password, this should be entered after the channel name in the
join command, ie “/join #channel password”. It is expected you idle in both the
public and private clan channels whenever available, this is so you will be able
to be contacted when the clan organizes matches against other clans. The trial
period can last any length of time and will end with you either becoming a full
member or turned down from the clan.
